Now I reinstalled the official game for the 4th time and I have ran out of solutions to try lol. I reinstalled the game in between certain attempts in case I accidentally made conflicting configuration settings. They either do nothing or make it even worse (full blackscreen without even alt-tabbing).

So, I decided that I'll play the game in windowed mode and youtubed 6~7 videos on editing ini files or extracting different dll/aqrit files etc. I understand that it is due to resolution differences between a 20 yo game vs a modern operating system. Without any modification of game files, the only nuisance (albeit a big one), is alt-tabbing freezes and turns the screen black for 5 seconds, after that the game can no longer be alt-tabbed back into. It seems I have exhausted every method out there. One more thing - I have got Logitech MX Revolution and I have found out that 圆4 software (Setpoint) is a little bit "fussy" - for example muting in Thumbscroll sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, and I got the latest release of this software.Hey guys, been struggling with this issue for months, would really appreciate a miraculous solution. What could be a problem ? The game itself ? My rig is stable and every (almost every game) runs smoothly on Win7. Of course I have got latest Nvidia drivers and DirectX and. It's a repack version of the game but what I have noticed the game crashes only on the main map. Has anyone problems with Medieval already on Windows 7 圆4 ? Sometimes everything seems to run just fine and after I press End turn button I can still play but (that's very random) the game crashes - I have noticed that when I try to preview a status of one of my provinces using right mouse click suddenly I see black screen and the game crashes.

I run the game in Windows XP Service Pack 3 compatibility mode. I have installed this and installed also Viking Invasion pack. Well, I got very annoying problem with "Medieval - Total War" (it's the first Medieval - not Medieval II).
